How to use my xbox controller for windows 8?

I want to play minecraft with my xbox wired controller on my windows laptop, so I downloaded something on microsoft and now if I press the home button on the controller it's like this: http://imgur.com/v2wcwJG

which is good, but when I move my buttons it doesn'y work? I tried searching joy.cpl on my laptop, and yes it does show the things moving when I move the buttons but I want to play minecraft using the controller, but it's just not working?
