Do you consider it normal to change your mind about video games?

I am 20 and ever since 2008 or 2010 I have wanted to become a game designer. I was inspired by indie games like minecraft and so on and ever since then I wanted a career in video games. I did my senior project on the history of video games. I wanted to be my own indie game deceloper but when I was in college I recived a lot of negative attention from teachers who disproved of video games by telling me they were a waste of time or that games were bad. I was very depressed for a while trying to solve why people stil in 2014 would still be against video games. I then posted a thread on another board saying "I gave up on video games" while earlier I asked a thread why "people still badmouth video games?" I soon became very unhappy and miserable about the fact I did that. I still loved video games and want to get into them. But I don't understand why people still dislike video games. I have noticed that older people have always feared new media and everything from writing to video games were viewed as a threat. Heck, I've noticed that even watching television is more respected than playing video games is now. I am still hoping that I can be an indie game designer sometimes when I am an adult but I am kind of haunted by the posts I made so im trying to remove them. Is it possible that I could love games, then demonize them, then want to bet a career in them?
