How to forward a port on minecraft PE?

My friend lives in Texas and we use to play a game together on our phones all the time. That game was then deleted off the AppStore. Recently, about a half year ago actually, we both got minecraft. Though we were disappointed that we couldn t play multiplayer. Now with the new 1.11 update I found that we can add servers. I ve done everything, and searched everything up. The only thing I am incapable of doing is open a port so we can connect. I have an IPhone, is there any way I can open the port so my friend can join my server?
