Does this cable work for connecting two computers, allowing for LAN video gaming?

I m getting ready to go on a huge trip and in the car and my friend and I are wanting to play some minecraft together. However there is a problem. I haven t figured out how to connect the laptops wireless, I have however dug up a Ethernet. My computer doesn t have an Ethernet port. Luckily the cables set up is, Ethernet to Ethernet/USB. Will this USB plug work with connecting the two laptops?
