Is the installation of Windows 10 good idea?

I want to install Windows 10 on my Toshiba laptop. I am worried that I will lost my files (pictures, videos etc.), and that games like Sims4, Sims3, Minecraft, GTA will not run on it. Do you have experience with new Windows? Is it good for gaming and programing?
