Is it time for a new computer?
I have a computer that is about seven years old and has been upgraded so many times, whether it would be more RAM or a better motherboard. Here are the specs I have now:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500
Motherboard: Gigabyte G14-M Combo
GPU: AMD RADEON HD 7700
RAM: Kingston 4GB (I forgot the model but it is 2GB x 2)
I don t have a problem with memory as I have a few external hard drives in hand, but thing is, I am constantly rendering and uploading videos. I also want to play games, but half of the games people play would not work on my computer. I record Minecraft, not commentaries, but songs using Note Blocks. I barely get 30 FPS when recording.
I have borrowed my friend s computer when he was away for a month and the change was like moving to a city after living in a village for 7 years. Shaders, 80 FPS when recording, editing videos were smooth as you like and rendering was done within half a minute. He used an AMD FX-6350 as a processor and had 6GB of RAM. I can t remember the graphics card he used but it was Nvidea.
After I used his computer, I realised how much I was missing out. I always thought my computer was sufficient to cope with today s generation of computers. Haha, my eyes have widen so much since then. The only problem is that my parents insist that the computer I have now is will be able to meet all my needs for the next couple years until I go to college or university… Is it time to change and if I do, can you guys recommend an editing build under $600?
