Whats wrong with my minecraft? - 2

To start it off I have minecraft on the pc. So when I mine with a an iron pickaxe, nothing appears. Like I get the wood blocks from trees, but if I mine cobblestone I don't get the cobble stone cube. It also takes forever to mine cobblestone, which I dont know is how it is or not.
