MInecraft Windows 7 Installation Problem?

I gave my friend a pre-paid gift card for Minecraft for her birthday. Everytime she tries to open the program, a message pops up saying "Another application is already using this file" We cannot figure out anything, and this laptop has never had Minecraft on it. (She is using windows 7)
