Minecraft redstone lamp help?

I just built a Walmart in my world. I want to have a lighting source going all the way down every other row, like row 1 empty, row 2 lights all the way down, row 3 empty, etc. I'd rather use redstone lamps instead of glowstone because they look better. Right now I have cobblestone fences all they way down then the redstone lamps underneath, so it looks like they are being held up. How would I power the lamps without it looking noticeable.
