Was there a new Minecraft pc update? If so, how do I get it?

So I think I saw that they were releasing a new update on feb. 25,2016. Now it's the 27th. I saw Youtubers playing on it(snapshot?). This is my first Minecraft update so I'm kind of confused on how it suppose to work and I went to the official mc website and that just confused me more. So can someone please help me?
