Lost my login profiles and all my saves on minecraft?

I have lost all my mine craft profiles and am left with the normal-ish one. The cause of this is because i put my.minecraft folder on my desktop for convenience. But lost all my profiles and worlds in the process. If anyone knows a solution please tell me.(I am using a mac)
