I cannot play Minecraft PE online. Why?

I am playing minecraft for many months. But then an update came and i was bored of offline. Then i tried to get online. But when i goes for online option they just show "could not connect:outdated server and sometimes could not connect to the world. "
My device is Apple ipod 5
Latest version ios
