Toshiba Satellite windows 8 - small apps?

Whenever I open minecraft, it is really, really small at the start. If I make it bigger, it is small again when I next open it.
It doesn t really bother me much with minecraft, as I maximise it anyway.

However, I m setting up the sims but it is really small and it doesn t maximise. Everything is squished together and you don t know what you re doing.

Help?
Added (1). I didn't really make it clear, but I mean the minimised window thingy is really small.
