Minecraft ps4 nether portal help?

I am building a nether portal and when I enter the nether and I try to return to the overworld it takes me somewhere about 2-3 minutes away from my original portal. I have tried moving the original portal and that didn t work, then I destroyed the second overwork portal, then went to the nether and destroyed the portal inside the nether, then killed myself. This only moved the second overwork portal a little bit from its original location. I really want to just enter the portal and be able to come back out of it in the same spot. Help?
