Does anyone have any Idea about Minecraft's Lore?

Here's what we know so far. There was this big apocalypse and you (Steve) are the last Human alive. Herobrine fits into it somehow. There are abandoned mines. And the Strongholds are some kind of research lab where someone was trying to enter the End but was to late. That's it. Do any of you have a hypothesis? Just make something up. It has to be believable
