Will steam (not water vapor) give me a computer virus and will minecraft give me a computer virus?

will steam give me a computer virus and will minecraft too because on our last pc it was slow and had so many pop ups right after i got minecraft and some games on steam and i had no mods and my dad and siblings do not believe me that it doesn t give a virus.
