Can't fly in Minecraft pe?

I reinstalled minecraft pe because I heard of the update and I thought I'd see what's new in creative mode, I was placing some blocks and went to fly to build higher but when I double tapped I started hovering maybe a few blocks off the ground but I couldn't go up or down, what's up with this?
