Intel core i5 vs intel core i7?

hello i am looking for a laptop for college and i wanted a laptop that had enough power to run games like halo 1 and 2, World of Tanks PC, and Minecraft. I already know the i7 is more powerful but im trying to keep it in a decently lower budget of under $600 since im saving for a gaming desktop after i get out of college. I would also like to know the major difference between them thank you
