Nothing shows up when trying to connect to LAN world on Minecraft?

Hello, I have a problem that is really annoying me. Whenever my sister and I try to connect to eachothers LAN worlds, they just don't show up. Yes we are both connected to the same internet, and close to eachother. Please help as this problem is really annoying me.
