I have a problem getting forge for minecraft?

Ok so, I already have downloaded forge for minecraft 1.8 but when I try to open it, it says that i need an app from the app store to open the file. I am in windows 8 and cant find any free apps that can open it. I dont even relay know what to look for! Can anyone help me?
